for over 24 million new housing units over the next 20 years, we can
no longer treat residential development and community design in an
ad hoc, incremental manner. Strong leadership and values, an understanding
that real estate development and sustainability are mutually supportive
ideas and implementation techniques that harness the momentum of the
merchant builder are all crucial concepts that must be embraced if
we are to effectively and positively change the form of our built
environment.
These are complex ideas that must be accomplished using an integrated
and collaborative approach. UrbanGreen believes that there is no single
expert, no one firm or consultant that has all the answers. Instead
we believe that for realistic, replicable change to occur in the community
development industry, we must find ways to appreciate, honor and discuss
